Sports for all

DIF’s slogan “Sport for all – regardless of level, age and gender” works - with assistance from the public authorities who supply the physical setting, and the sports clubs which fill out the framework with activities for the elite athletes and the many who exercise to keep fit.

The number af sports active adult Danes has tripled in the last 30 years.

Three out of four children and young people in Denmark engage in sport regularly in their spare time, and almost half of the adult population is engaged in sport and exercise. Many adults continue to do sport in the clubs even after they reach a more “mature” age.

The number adult Danes who are active in sports has tripled in the last 30 years, and it is especially in the oldest age groups that participation has risen most dramatically. Some people take individual exercise, for instance by jogging, swimming or working out, but do not participate in the sports activities organised by the clubs. But most make use of the many advantages that membership of one of the 14,000 clubs offers. In fact, golf is the fastest growing sport in Denmark.
